I received an ARC e-copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank You! WOW! I have since bought a copy to support the author. What an intense and dark short story. I started reading this virtually blind and did not know what to expect. It is very well written, clear, and fast-paced. Character development was on queue. Loved how this read was presented.
OMGosh, the intense nature or world alone grabbed me from the start, asking myself where is she going with this? Then I get to the goods and all I can say is this is NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. It is deep, dark, and disturbing, yet, for me myself, I found it eye-opening at the same time.
This is definitely a read for the mature minded reader 18+ or older.

This new author is a very good one. I am also reading her other books and I cant put them down when reading. I cant wait for the last book of the series to come out . I highly recommend any of her books.
Catherine Stovall has painted a colourful word tapestry of emotion, and is taking her characters on a roller coaster ride towards evil.
Read it. It's good.
I liked "Fearful Day" by Catherine Stovall. The characters were so realistic that it makes you wish you could be there to help her. The plot kept me reading, just waiting to find out what was going to happen next. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys an on the edge of your seat thriller, but its not for the faint of heart.
In a nice, punchy short, Catherine Stovall delivers a truly creepy story, all wrapped up in elegant prose. Her style is rhythmic without being overly wordy. She portrays true horror without being crass or resorting to mundane profanity, which makes it all the more graphic. I got chills, and for me, that's saying something. Brilliant.
A short story that packs a lot of punch, and certainly gives the reader something to think about at the end. It brings to mind the classic "what-if" scenario What if things had gone differently, or other choices had been made? Would the main character still be in the same position at the end?
The truth behind the unspoken words leaves me breathless with anticipation, and it's a shame the story had to come to a close so quickly.
Things are not always as they seem, and often the most perfect families are hiding the worst secrets. Sometimes the secrets are hidden so deep, they don't even realize they exist. If the devil came to you and promised to save you if you spread his word. What would you do? Fight it...and resign yourself to death. Or embrace it and resign yourself to institutionalization. But will you ever really be free in the end? This is a dark, deep piece and not her usual. While it is short, there is a lot of emotion packed in these few pages. Definitely worth a read.
I picked up Ms Stovall's short story because her novel's intrigue me. I find the strategy of reading a short before the full length something similar to touching the bath water with your toe before committing to the hot tub.
From the start her story can be 'heard' in a tone of a defeated emotional woman. The words selected paint bleak, intense, and terrified in a way they are experienced by the reader. From the first line you know you're going to finish this story. In the last line you are watching everything as the character does, and moving about as if you're in her skin.
Exceptional Job Ms Stovall. I'm looking forward to your Requiem of Humanity series next.
